Karen Covington - Emergency Care Provider / Campus Support
Karen and Perry Covington have been houseparents at Cherokee Home for Children since 2006. They have been houseparents for mostly older boys for several years. In March of 2015, Perry was promoted to the position of Comptroller for Cherokee Home. At this point, many in Karen's position would have said, "I've done my part", but this was not the case. Karen provides very versatile help and support for houseparents and office staff in duties across campus.
Karen comes from Fairfax, Virginia. Before coming to Cherokee Home, she worked for First Financial Bank in Abilene.
According to Karen, "We are to take the children at whatever point they are in life and help them work through what brought them to us. We then hope to reunite them with family, and to bring them to a knowledge of God."
Karen and Perry have two grown sons and two grandsons, Calen and Ryder.
